Cosmetology School Outfits: What To Wear to Cosmetology School

Are you ready for your first day at beauty school? One of the most important pieces is getting your back-to-school wardrobe ready. At Jean Madeline Institute, we strive to prepare our students to be and look professional, as well.

Here is our shopping list you can follow to help you look the part of a Jean Madeline Institute student. We hope you’re as excited as we are for your first day!

1. We Provide the Shirts

When learning how to become a professional in the beauty industry, you’ll want to dress for success. While you’re still learning at school, you don’t have to worry about finding the perfect top. Instead, at Jean Madeline Institute, we provide shirts that our students are required to wear.

Just make sure to show your pride by having the logo visible.

2. Choose Black Pants or Skirts

As part of your time at beauty school, you can expect to move around a lot, so make sure you wear something that looks good and feels comfortable!

At our school, you have two options when it comes to bottoms: black slacks/dress pants or a black skirt. If you’re looking for a classy look with your skirt, make sure that it goes to the knee or longer. Complete the look with black tights or black, sheer stockings for an extra touch.

Types of pants that should not be on your beauty school shopping list are:

  • Shorts
  • Leggings
  • Denim
  • Sweatpants
  • Yoga pants

3. Find Comfortable Shoes

Stride into your first day with confidence and a brand new pair of shoes. When choosing shoes for beauty school, remember to stick to the guidelines in our school catalog. When getting your shoes, don’t forget the socks or stockings to go with them. You can choose whatever color you like for your shoes or socks, just make sure you can comfortably wear them all day!

The floors can get slippery at times with all the styling products being used,so make sure to choose slip-resistant shoes.

4. Don’t Forget to Accessorize

Accessorizing is a great way to reflect your personality in an outfit. Necklaces and scarves are allowed as long as you aren’t hiding the logo on your top. To finish the look, a Jean Madeline Institute apron will be provided in your kit, too.

5. Take Care of Your Skin and Hair!

Your professional appearance is more than just your clothes! Style your hair with the techniques you are learning during school, and don’t forget makeup or your regular skincare routine to keep your skin glowing. If you have facial hair, keep it maintained. After all, if you’re in beauty school, you’re a beauty professional in training, and it’s important to look the part!
