Have you heard the news? We have moved into our new campus in the Neshaminy Mall. We're excited to serve salon guests in our new community here in Bensalem, PA. Even though it's a busy transition, we've been settling in and making new friends, while taking the opportunity to learn a few fun facts about our new town and discovering things to do, too.
Bensalem, a small suburb of Philadelphia in Bucks County, is chock full of history. We wanted to share some interesting things we've learned so far and ideas for taking in this small town. Here's our list of places to go and things to do in Bensalem:
Did you know that the Neshaminy Mall turns 50 years old this year? What better place to start? One of the things we know people like most about the mall is the selection of small shops, some of which have been here since the mall opened.
Along with the 24-screen AMC Theatre, the mall also offers a variety of special events ranging from pop-up boutiques, storytime hour at the Barnes & Noble, and a Craft & Antiques show. The Neshaminy Mall is also the home of food drives, car shows, and the ever-popular "Food Truck Frenzy." We recommend following the mall on Instagram to keep up with events hosted by the mall and the stores found inside.
Bensalem itself is over 325 years old! Even if you're not a history buff, that is definitely impressive. Founded in 1692 as a colony, Bensalem was even a favorite town of none other than Benjamin Franklin and happened to be where he conducted his famous "kite experiment." Sprinkled with other historic sites to tour, you can also attend interesting events like Civil War reenactments, hosted by the Historical Society of Bensalem Township. Get a list of other historic attractions here.
Ok, we had to. Jean Madeline Aveda Institute has been serving salon guests in our student salons since 1987 and before that in the world-class salons, created by our founders in 1933. Relocating to Bensalem gives us the chance to share our salon-quality services with you at affordable prices. JMAI is partnered with Aveda so our guests can enjoy a facial, get a new hairstyle, get body treatments, and take a break from shopping for an express mani-pedi all with Aveda products. Our full list of services has something for everyone.
If you love music, plan to hit up the events at the Penn Community Bank Amphitheatre. This live music outdoor venue is the host to the annual summer concert series, a fall festival, and musical acts ranging from jazz to bluegrass. Keep up with on-sale dates and show information on Twitter at @pcbaevents.
If you want to take in some fresh air, so far our favorite spot is Benjamin Rush State Park. Located less than three miles from the Neshaminy Mall, this open space area offers miles of hiking and biking trails, open meadows, woodland areas, and is home to one of the largest community gardens in the world. As you know, Aveda is founded under the precept of beauty products made of natural ingredients and using resources that help protect our planet. It's only natural that we would gravitate to this outdoor retreat, a close by getaway can do our students a world of good.
You're invited to come see our new digs! Stop by to stock up on Aveda beauty products or even take a tour to learn more about our programs. We look forward to meeting you.
