Why the Partnership Between Jean Madeline and Aveda Matters to Students

"My experience at Jean Madeline gave me a strong foundation by providing me with the highest quality education available in the beauty industry."
- Tiffany Guaglinore, Color Specialist & Educator

Jean Madeline Aveda Institute has a long history of collaboration with the Aveda brand. This partnership makes a world of difference in students' educational experience. How so?

A Long Heritage

The reason that the partnership between Aveda and Jean Madeline has lasted for almost 40 years is because we both have similar values and missions for the beauty industry. Some of those core values include:

  • Conducting business in a way that is ethically responsible. Both Jean Madeline and Aveda care about contributing to the communities where we operate and to society as a whole. At the end of the day it's about much more than the money.
  • Conducting business in an environmentally responsible way. Aveda avoids making or testing products in such a way that it would harm the environment. Not only this, but they support many initiatives that improve and strengthen our environment. At Jean Madeline, we have the same core value and this is one of the reasons that our partnership with Aveda is valuable to us.
  • Helping to shape the future for beauty professionals. It's a bright future and we want to keep it that way! Aveda gives us a lot of tools to help us accomplish this mission and this is another reason we have stuck with them for over 30 years!

The Aveda Family

Aveda was founded in 1978, so they also have a long tradition of striving for excellence. It was founded by Horst Rechelbacher in Blaine, Minnesota. Rechelbacher was in Minnesota to compete in a hair design contest and never left. He started some of his own salons and worked as a salon chain owner for many years. Then Rechelbacher took an extended leave of absence to India where the concepts and ideas behind Aveda were born. In 1980, only two years after Aveda was founded, Jean Madeline started selling Aveda products in their salons and a bond was formed between the two companies. The owners of Jean Madeline saw amazing potential in a partnership with Aveda even when they were a brand new cosmetics company. Since that day in 1980 Aveda has become internationally known and connected. As mentioned before, this gives the Jean Madeline Aveda Institutes many amazing resources that students can take advantage of.

Jean Madeline History

Jean Madeline has been providing beauty services and education in the Philadelphia area since 1933. Jean Kurlan and Madeline Brown put their heads together and started a chain of salons under the name Jean Madeline. The Jean Madeline salons have continued to thrive and expand in Philly all the way up to the present day. In 1987, the owners of Jean Madeline chose to get into beauty education as well and they opened Jean Madeline Education Center of Cosmetology.

  • Jean Madeline salons have been servicing Philadelphians since 1933.
  • Jean Madeline beauty schools have been training aspiring beauty professionals since 1987.

We have a long tradition of striving to provide an exceptional customer service experience and doing everything in our power to give students the training they need to become beauty industry rockstars. Although these things are at the center of everything we do, we aren't alone in our mission.
