Celebrity-Inspired Wedding Trends

When it comes to over the top, lavish, and lovely weddings, it’s no wonder that we look to the stars for guidance. No, not those stars. We’re talking celebs! Actors, musicians, models, even the royals across the pond are joining together in wedded bliss and we are looking to them to see which wedding trends are on the horizon. We’re always excited to see their romantic celebrations and see the pics to save to our “Dream Wedding” boards on Pinterest. See our favorite wedding trends set by the celebs below!

Floral Romance

When Dave Bautista wed his lovely bride, Sarah Jade, his happiness couldn’t be contained! Surrounded by tendrils of flowers and lace for miles, this former professional wrestler come actor - best known his role as Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy - displayed his tender side in a very un-Drax-like way. Just like his well-known role in the Marvel cinematic universe, their wedding style was certain to spawn some sequels. Over the next few wedding seasons we’re sure to continue seeing drop-waisted, floral-lace gowns with simple floral settings filled with ivy, boxelder, and gardenias. This old-school romantic trend has taken root over the universe. See a few of our faves below:

We’re Seeing Red

Take a color cue from London fashion designer, Alice Temperley, who has dressed celebrities such as Thandie Newton, Penelope Cruz, and Pippa Middleton. Temperley believes in the power of understated elegance combined with pops of color. Touted in “Harper’s Bazaar” online as one of best trends for brides this year, her bold, berry lip is making us stop in our tracks! Swipe on some red at your wedding! But don’t stop there. Red is the color of love so why not drape yourself in this color, hide it away inside the groom’s cake, or add a floral ombre accent to your wedding decor? The possibilities are endless.

The Royal Treatment

Speaking of Pippa, her sister, Catherine Duchess of Cambridge, and the rest of the British royal family are busily celebrating the nuptials of Prince Harry and his stylish bride, Meghan Markle. As evident on two popular Netflix series, The Crown and The Royal House of Windsor, the royal family is no stranger to pomp and circumstance. According to Vogue magazine, the “Meghan Markle effect” will influence many matrimony plans for years to come. For your big day, we say plan it like a princess! Here are some of the royalty-themed wedding trends that are fit for a future king and his beloved.

Rustic and Weathered

There’s something about a good ol’ fashioned rustic wedding that illustrates a love that will stand the test of time. Idina Menzel, the voice of Frozen’s Elsa and Broadway’s singing sensation, proves that pleasantly simple can sometimes beat out the standard fairytale wedding. Aged-wood vases, wild flowers, burlap decor, mason jars candle votives, and vintage lace are the perfect way to do a throwback to the wedding style of yesteryear. Trending now are these classic, countryside looks that give a woodsy nod to nature and give us all of the folksie feels.

It’s Your Day

In the end, however a couple chooses to celebrate their big day is up to them. If they choose to go big and bold or small and subtle, it’s all a matter of personal taste. We love the creative ways that people come up with to represent their love story and look forward to seeing how wedding styles evolve in the future.
