2014 Fall Hair Trends

Happy first day of fall! As the leaves and weather change, so does our hair. If you’re longing for a new style, take note of our stylists & educators, Allison and Gina’s favorite 2014 Fall Hair Trends.

Here are their favorite styles and tips for the new season:

1. Braids

Braids were spotted all over the runway during the recent New York Fashion Week. But, this season’s hair trend isn’t just a simple and boring braid. One of the trends Gina spotted was a modern and chic version of the cornrow – seen on Alexander McQueen’s runway.

Hair Tip:  “Braids are bigger than ever this season. Incorporate a scarf through one, wear them cornrow style or create a halo braid for a bohemian look.”  – Allison

2. Fall Beach Waves

Beach waves aren’t just for summer. With so many styles of braids to try, beach waves are a simple hairstyle to achieve. This tousled style was worn by Rose McGowan and is also known as “Mermaid Waves”.

Hair Tip:  “Take out your braids the next day and you'll have amazing beach waves that are effortlessly beautiful and also very trendy.” – Allison

3. Bobs

Ever thought about going short? Gina sees a lot of celebs going for different types of bobs – such as Taylor Swift’s modern mullet – “it’s just a choppy bob with a heavy bang swept behind the ears”, says, Gina. Another one of Gina’s favorite bob’s is Jessica Alba’s – which she calls “The Even Longer Lob…A choppy long bob.” With so many different lengths – short, mid, or long – you can find the perfect bob to fit your style.

Hair Tip:  “Cutting some of the long summer hair gives hair a fresher and cleaner look.” – Gina

“Bobs of all lengths this season are anything but Soccermom-ish. Pass the flat iron from mid shaft down to create a very blunt edge. Or use a curling wand or your flat iron to create a loose wavy texture. Avoiding the "bubble" look will keep your bob looking more up to date.” – Allison
