Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students

Jean Madeline Aveda Institute has signed and returned to the Department of Ed the HEERF Certfication and Agreement and intends to use no less than 50% of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to eligible Jean Madeline Aveda Institute students.


Jean Madeline Aveda Institute has received $180,767 from the Department pursuant to the institution's Certification and Agreement [for] Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.


The total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of the date of submission (i.e., as of the 30-day Report and every 45 days thereafter. Quarterly beginning Q3 of 2020).

As of the 30 day report $0 have been distributed to students. 

As of the first 45 day report $79,320.15 has been distributed to students

As of the second 45 day report $104,512.04 has been distributed to students

As of the third quarter of 2020 report $104,512.04 has been distributed to students

As of the fourth quarter of 2020, $104,512.04 has been distributed to students

As of the first quarter of 2021, $180,767 has been distributed to students

The estimated total number of students at the institution eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act is 179.

As of the 30 day report, less than 10 students have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

As of the first 45 day report, 69 students have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

As of the second 45 day report, 99 students have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

As of the third quarter of 2020, 99 students have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

As of the fourth quarter of 2020, 99 students have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

As of the first quarter of 2021, 113 students have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

The method(s) used by the institution to determine which students receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants and how much they would receive under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act are listed below:

For the initial awarding of HEERF funding, Jean Madeline Aveda Institute determined eligible students must meet the following criteria:

  • Eligible for Title IV funding
  • Have a valid ISIR on file
  • Must be maintaining Satisfactory Academic Progress
  • Cannot be in Default on a Title IV Loan or owe an Overpayment on a Title IV Grant
  • Enrolled in an eligible program
  • Enrolled at Jean Madeline Aveda Institute on March 16, 2020

Award amounts range from $540 to $2161 

Students were sent an application form through Jean Madeline Aveda Institute email to request funds. This form requested students to certify that they had eligible expenses under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

The form explains:

"HEERF Emergency Financial Aid Grant funds are available to students to help cover expenses related to

the disruption of campus operations due to the Coronavirus (COVID‐19). This can include eligible

expenses under a student's cost of attendance such as food, housing, course materials, technology,

health care and childcare. JMAI Students may fill out the form to request funds.

Only one completed form will be considered for each student. Please do not fill out this form multiple times.

By completing this form, you certify that the information you are providing is accurate to the best of your knowledge".
